We’re back after a brief west-coast break – yes the weather was lovely, yes the tacos were great. Tacos can only bring so much joy though and the serious business of attending concerts must go on.
Good news, New York is now a blue state (Republicans have held the state senate almost without a break for fifty years). Also good news, it’s the weekend. Bonus good news, the following shows:
Still processing the news that Chris Cornell died today, Soundgarden have always been a huge favourite. I’ll be in Lisbon this weekend on a much needed break but I’m still trying not to be disappointed at missing some of these. Anyway, I’ll console myself with seafood and wine and you enjoy yourselves with bass, guitars, […]
The annoyingly prolific Ty Segall — slow down Ty, we can’t keep up — has another LP coming out in January with Emmett Kelly, Mikal Cronin, Charles Moothart and more. He’ll be playing a show at Warsaw on May 7.

It’s annoying that Drag City isn’t on Spotify. Thankfully NPR is streaming Ty Segall’s latest, which is getting great reviews. We love it too: Manipulator also recalls the way some of the best ’90s bands captured that era while making their own timeless records for the canon. Segall’s upper register makes his voice a dead […]
This teaser from his new record seems to suggest he could be. Sleeper is out August 20 on Drag City:
Check him out next month with Mac Demarco! Fri. Feb. 1 – New York, NY @ Webster Hall Or with K-Holes and Ex-Cult Sat. Feb. 2 – Brooklyn, NY @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
