We’ve almost survived another week, and there are some just rewards coming everyone’s way. If you want something a little more unconventional as well, then we can take you to the stars and beyond this weekend. Either way, enjoy yourselves, you’ve earned it.
I managed to see my fellow Oxfordians, Radiohead, on Tuesday, so everything else this week may seem like a bit of a Let Down (although I saw them play that 10 years ago too). Still, while the bar has been set high, there are still some fantastic bands in town for the weekend!
It’s going to be a hot one this weekend. Drink responsibly, use sunscreen and maybe, just maybe, some good shows will be able to make us forget we’re melting, just for a few brief moments. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor options for you below.
Happy 4th of July, everyone, a long weekend is just what the doctor ordered. When all around is madness (I’m looking at the idiotic result of the EU referendum back home in the UK. Absolutely horrifyingly stupid), I’d suggest substituting banging your head against a wall for seeing a show or three.
Dilly ding, dilly dong. We can cut the smalltalk, you really have some great options this weekend and the likes of Chelsea Wolfe, Beverly, Waxahatchee and a Woods/Ultimate Painting double-header didn’t even make the cut. If you aren’t getting out to see a show, I’m not sure I can ever be any help.
Two bands perfectly bookended on either side of the punk spectrum bring their tour to Brooklyn this weekend with shows at Silent Barn (5/7) and Rough Trade (5/8). Montreal quartet Ought are still riding high on their last album, Sun’s Coming Down, via Constellation Records in 2015; a triumphant combination of The Fall, Talking Heads and Pavement. […]
It has been a fairly low-key week, and the gagging need to get out there and see something might be why this time around we’re heavy on the early part of the weekend, but that’s fine, Sunday is supposed to be relaxing, I guess. A bit like a couple of weeks ago, this weekend features […]
Love is in the air, or not, this weekend; I’ll be able to help with the latter. Hopefully it’s a long one for all, however, with President’s Day on Monday. Forget about the potential -18 degrees Celsius temperatures (come on people, let’s stop using Fahrenheit, it’s so unbecoming and idiotic), wrap up warm and get […]
There are plenty of options for Halloween this weekend, so we’re sticking with the regular format here this week, rather than fill it with bands playing cover sets or other such quirky seasonal stuff. No, if you’ve come this far into the week and still haven’t decided if dressing up as Pizza Rat is the thing to […]
As enjoyable as CMJ is (see our review), being back on a more regular routine is highly comforting. Although as apartment heaters begin creaking back to life, the change of seasons seems to be taking it’s toll on immune systems though, so be careful out there and drink your fair share of hot toddies or scotch […]
