Thanks to Peter for covering for me last week. As mentioned, I was down in Austin for Psych Fest and had a great time (some organisational problems aside), including a genuine “I was there” moment seeing Thirteenth Floor Elevators. The next couple of weeks show some residual benefits from the festival as bands either immediately […]
Bye bye Bazaar. Sad news, y’all: no more Brooklyn Night Bazaar. They have until the end of the month at their 165 Banker location. In the realm of cool Brooklyn shit closing down, this one hits a little too close to home for me. Actually, it hits right next door. I live, literally, next door to […]
Well this sucks. Pretty soon the only place to see live music in New York will be Terminal 5. Brooklyn Night Bazaar’s landlord let them know that a new tenant is taking over their Brooklyn space and they need to be out by June 1st. The Greenpoint music venue, food and shopping space, where shows […]
The weather looks like it should be pretty nice again this weekend, and yes the L train still sucks, but you can work around it. Remember to hit up the Numero pop-up store and load up on records. After enjoying the outdoors during the day, there are some fine evening options for you.
Don’t forget that L train has forsaken us this weekend (and for the next 5 weekends afterwards). Fret not, for once that crushing realisation subsides you can perk up in the knowledge that any efforts to battle this inconvenience will be rewarded with some fine entertainment.
The week started off pretty well for shows and as usual we’ve got some great options with which to end it. Maybe just like all that snow and slush, our troubles can melt away, in our case with the aid of a gig or five! Before I start the list I’d like to note that […]
This wretched month will finally come to an end by the time the weekend is out, but February does leave us a nice parting gift in the form of some fantastic shows that should get you out of whatever hopefully warm abode you call home.
Greetings, let’s cast aside these tenebrific last few days and look to that which brings the most effulgent of feelings: the weekend. I can’t say I’m being terribly helpful at this point, given that three of the best five options are already sold out, but I don’t make the rules.
It’s going to be a cold weekend, but it’s also going to be a long one so try to get out there and enjoy yourselves. Like above-freezing-temperatures, I’ll practice brevity. 5) Kleenex Girl Wonder, Wild White, Black River Manifesto at Silent Barn Billed as a “post-love fest” for Sunday, you can get your jangle on at […]
With almost the entire city having a “snow” day on Tuesday, the feel of the week is skewed. Thursday feels like Tuesday, which will feel pretty good when the realisation hits. Here are some ideas for the impending weekend that don’t involve watching oversized men throwing a ball around for about 3 seconds then taking […]
