It’s our favorite time of the year! Northside Festival has just announced its first wave of 2017 artists and speakers— it’s safe to say they have outdone themselves yet again.
Northside Music, which runs from June 8-11, will feature headlining shows from Dirty Projectors, Miguel, Thursday, and Kamasi Washington. Other acts include Julia Holter doing a Creative Independent (Kickstarter) showcase, a 10th anniversary show with Sacred Bones, a 33 1/3 showcase with Lower Dens doing ABBA Gold, a National Sawdust premiere with avant-garde composer William Basinski, and Pitchfork showcase with Downtown Boys and Vagabon.
Northside Innovation (June 7-9) brings three days chock-full of keynote talks, interviews, panels, workshops, pitch competitions, VR playground, and parties. This year is more than just a tech event, though—they’ll be focusing on entertainment, culture and creatives including names like Sasheer Zamata (of SNL), Liz Plank (of Vox), legend Jane Rosenthal (of Tribeca Institute), a big Fortune 500 keynote on the Fortune stage with new EIC Andrew Nusca, and other talks from Vice HBO, NYTIMES, FADER, Droga5, and many other startups/agencies.
For the last nine years, Northside Festival has consistently brought some of the most exciting names in music, film, art, and innovation to Brooklyn. This June 7-11, they will continue that tradition.
