And the good news from festival land keeps coming. The folks at Founders dropped the lineup for New York’s own Governor’s Ball this morning, hot on the tails of Coachella’s announcement. I fucking love this season.
Top billed acts include The Black Keys (a fine foil to Coachella’s Jack White – plus we had him last year), Drake (also appearing at Coachella) and Icelandic lady legend Bjork. The lineup here includes a hefty helping of EDM as well with Deadmau5, Odesza, Big Gigantic, Flying Lotus, Big Gigantic and Chromeo all making the list.
Ryan Adams is making some splashes in 2015 with the second festival lineup announcement in two days. Other surprises include Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Circus, Weird Al Yankovic, My Morning Jacket and The Decemberists, who are dropping a new album later this month.
Overall – I’d say that Governor’s Ball is giving Coachella fair run for it’s money. There are tons of overlapping acts here too (St. Vincent, Sturgill Simpson, The War on Drugs, Florence + the Machine, and a ton of others.) The three-day festival which takes place June 5- June 7 on Randall’s Island is giving people plenty of reasons to adopt an East Cost mentality this year. Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 9th at 12 PM via the official website.
