The month of April has been kinda crazy, right? At the risk of sounding like someone who owns crystals and uses essentials oils like they’re going out of style (oh wait, I do both of those things), I’m going to blame all this whacked out energy on the heavens. Mercury was chillin’ in retrograde for the first half of the month, and now Saturn is taking its turn to fuck shit up. And if the new moon didn’t have you questioning everything in your life already, THERE’S MORE! The full moon’s is likely bring up a lot of emotional and workplace upheaval, so if you’re feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone. That said, it’s also a good time to set goals, and manifest a more positive year for yourself. So by all means, eat some ice cream first, party your ass off and get all that weird energy out of your system. Align your chakras with a dope show this weekend. Here are a few places to start!
1.) Chrome Sparks and Machinedrum @ Elsewhere (Thursday, April 26th) – Here are two artists who defy conventional genres. Don’t try to label Chrome Sparks or Machinedrum under generic terms like house, bass or techno producers. What these two are doing is so complex and so original that they are in a league all their own. Machinedrum is currently touring his career-defining LP Human Energy, meanwhile his friend and longtime collaborator Chrome Sparks has released a series of new singles over the last few months, all as smooth and dreamy as ever. 2.) Le Youth @ Output @ Output (Friday, April 27th) – We’ve loved Le Youth’s poppy, upbeat house since the first time we caught him at MATTE’s Full Moon Fest in 2014. He recently collaborated with all-star vocalist MNDR on I Could Always – a sun-drenched single about farewells that’s sure to be at the top of everyone’s summer playlist. Catch him before festival season hits. Get tickets HERE.
3.) Discotechnique: Dmitri From Paris and Divas @ House of Yes (Friday, April 27th) – Glam up in gold and head out to House of Yes for a disco-laced party that celebrates the eras biggest stars and songstresses. Dmitri From Paris lays familiar beats and remixes of 70s era classics from the greats like Donna Summer, Diana Ross, Gloria Gaynor and Chaka Khan. Disco and diva looks are required for entry, so get sparkly and keep that twinkle strong all night long. Get tickets HERE.
