Rockaway Taco, A Selby Film from the selby on Vimeo. Did you make it down to Rockaway this summer? No? They are still open, so for the love of god, go get a black bean plantain quesadilla.
After having played a crowded Old Firehouse in Manhattan the night before, Grass Widow destroyed at Brooklyn’s packed and fairly muggy Monster Island Basement on Tuesday. Apparently the A/C had died just before the show, setting a toasty sauna vibe throughout the night. My two cents on this: Air conditioning is for old people anyway. […]
San Francisco based Kill Rock Stars signee Grass Widow played their first of two ToddP shows at the Old Firehouse/DCTV last night. A video edit of said show featuring the songs ‘Shadow’ and ‘Uncertain Memory’ off of their new album ‘Past Time’ can be found below, along with details for tonight’s outing at Monster Island […]
“Tortillas On The Creek” is a monthly series of benefit shows to support the clean up of Newton Creek, promoted by Newton Radio and hosted by Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos at 271 Starr Street. Last night’s performers included Snakes Say Hisss, I’m Turning Into, Sweet Bulbs and Blank Dogs. A 2 song video montage of […]
Pavement played the first of many NYC reunion shows last night on the Williamsburg Waterfront, and Big Ass Lens was there to capture and document the experience. The band played material spanning their entire career, including “Unfair”, the video above. Lots more footage, including a 4 song mega mix, and review of the show over […]
Can’t front on the freeness! One of our favorite up and coming bands, Grandfather, are making it easy on our wallets this weekend. On Saturday evening they’ll release their Steve Albini engineered debut, Why I’d Try, with a free album release show at Cameo Gallery at the Lovin Cup Cafe on North 6th street.
Their debut LP has been getting major drop on the BAL record player. These New Yorkers create dynamic, intense and violent psychedelic rock. Their album is available for free on their website, grandfathermusic.com, and handmade CDs and vinyl will be for sale at the show.
Should make for a proper, free evening – doors at 10:30, band at 11 sharp.
Big Ass Lens captured the band at the Knitting Factory a few months back, video after the jump.
By now, you all know our obsession with Twin Shadow‘s debut, Forget, set to release on Terrible Records on September 28th. And as if we needed another reason to swoon over the record, comes the premiere of the video for “Castles In The Snow” which for some reason feels like an intimate look into the […]
It’s been over 3 years since Panda Bear, AKA Noah Lennox last played a show in New York, so when we heard he was playing Governor’s Island, we jumped at the chance, paying a $20 premium over $30 face to order them online through the crooks at TicketBastard. In the end, no amount of money […]
Since Lodge has the worst service in Brooklyn (and the best Blueberry Lemonade), we missed the first half of last night’s show at Mercury Lounge– though we heard that Sherlocks Daughter and Sun Airway were great. Luckily, we got there just in time to catch Class Actress and Brahms, who have quickly climbed to the […]
This video is the perfect blend of Jack Smith and my new desktop photo.
