Is Hunts Point the city’s newest destination for thrill seekers? We have reason to believe so after scoring a site-walk of the massive venue at 1108 Oak Point Ave., led by our friends at BangOn!NYC. This weekend, the third installment of Elements Music and Arts Festival returns to New York City, bringing with it an extra day of festivities and a jaw-dropping new location. OMFG, IS IT SATURDAY YET?
We were initially sad to hear that Elements Festival NYC would be leaving Brooklyn, UNTIL we saw the new space. Ultimately we understand that the eccentric, city-based festival needs room to grow. Their new home in the Bronx may have just solidified the two-day music event as an underground main stay.
Fans who enjoyed the last two iterations of Elements Festival NYC, will undoubtedly be thrilled with the new digs. BangOn!NYC is keeping with tradition by converting an edgy, industrial space into an art-lovers paradise. But this time, the Bronx-based venue is considerably larger, closer to public transportation, shaded in all the right places, and even cooler than the original (we didn’t think it was possible either).
We loved the oversized grain silos at Red Hook terminal. Well, 1108 Oak Point Avenue keeps with the familiar aesthetic, and then blows it out of the park. The imaginative souls at BangOn!NYC have brought all 10 acres of the freight lot to life with immersive art walks, expanded vending, a gourmet food truck lineup (featuring Bareburger, Luke’s Lobster and other local favorites), a disco-themed roller skating rink, a floating pirate ship and much more. If you attended the first ever Lakewood Elements Festival over Memorial Day weekend, then you already understand why we’re so excited.
Yes, 2016 was fire, but this year BangOn!NYC is delivering all the hits, PLUS a high-flying BMX bike show, a Burning Man-inspired “Thunder Dome” and four, fully produced stages including a multi-level warehouse that will play host to the production company’s most impressive lineup to date. Names like GRiZ, The Knocks, Zeds Dead and Flying Lotus only begin to scratch the surface of 2017’s all-star roster. This is THE PARTY of the summer. Don’t believe me? Just peep our instagram for a first look at Elements Festival NYC’s new home. We can’t wait to see what these party mystics have in store for us this Saturday and Sunday! Single day tickets and two-day passes are still available HERE.
