Urban Outfitter’s three level store coming to Williamsburg most likely won’t include a bar as they had hoped. Community Board 1 has denied their request for a liquor license. Shoppers may be forced to purchase Notorious B.I.G. tank tops and crappy headphones while completely sober. From DNAinfo:
The staff insisted the booze was part of a way to become “an integral part of the community” with a restaurant, pop-up booths and a rooftop space, but the committee didn’t buy their pitch.
“I get the kumbaya moment, but why do you have to be blasted to do that?” asked board member Rob Solano. “I go to Ikea and have a sandwich with meatballs, and I don’t need a drink. I have no idea where the alcohol fits in.”
The final ruling on the matter will be made by the State Liquor Authority. The meeting also revealed that the forthcoming restaurant by Ilan Hall was proposed to be located inside of the Urban Outfitters. via DNAinfo
