The official name for this summer’s waterfront concerts is The LACOSTE L!VE Williamsburg Park Concert Series, according to Fashion Daily Mag. The details of Lacoste’s involvement is unclear, but the brand will have an interactive and eco-friendly “pop-up shop” at the venue, a re-purposed shipping container that will have men’s and women’s apparel and a listening station, among other features.

Lacoste debuted its “pop-up shop” at a Coachella party last month.

Jelly previously sponsored the series from its inaugural season in 2006 through 2010. Last year, Jelly moved its series first to the Rockaways and then to East Williamsburg.

What an awful decision by Lacoste. Whoever decided to sponsor this should be fired for the fact that they have no idea who their demographic is…

Bobbie – unfortunately I think Lacoste knows what they’re doing. These waterfront shows bear almost no resemblance to what they were three to four years ago when they were 1)free, 2) facing the city, 3) full of lower-income, cigarette-smoking, dodgeball playing kids, 4) bring in lesser-known bands, 4)much less of a production, and most importantly 5) taking place before the neighboring buildings were occupied.

The transformation from the old w-burg to the new one that has been in plain sight for many years now has really reached a tipping point and Lacoste-brand supporters have a new playground. Unfortunately it’s more of this from here on out.
