David Cronenberg’s The Brood

With Halloween just around the corner, there are lots of opportunities to see some great classic horror films in North Brooklyn. We told you about the The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, which just ended. If you missed it, fear not, there are still plenty of scary films coming your way.

At Videology in Williamsburg, there’s a screening on one of our favorites, David Cronenberg’s The Brood this Thursday. Other highlights include Let the Right One In, Shaun of the Dead, and the Shining. In addition to films screenings, they’re hosting plenty of fun events including Nosferatu and The Blair Witch Project with live scores and a Suspiria Dance Installation to accompany a screening of the film on October 27:

Featuring the talents of local NYC dancers, this interactive event will immerse audience members into the richly saturated fever dreams of Argento’s nightmarish world. Your ticket includes a screening of the film alongside several dance performances, guaranteeing you an unforgettably eerie night.

Also in Williamsburg, Nithehawk is showing Halloween, The Lure, Suspiria, Creepshow, Carnival of Souls and more.

At Film Noir  in Greenpoint, you can check out Mario Bava‘s Baron Blood and Argento’s Profondo Rosso. Also, Nosferatu, and Dracula will be screened with a live scores by the Reel Orchestre. Check out their full calendar here.

In Bushwick, Syndicated has Psycho, The Omen, Nighmare on Elm Steeet to name a few.

And in various locations, including McCarren Park Pool, NYC Parks is hosting a series of outdoor films called Movies Under the Stars: Shocktober Fest. Here’s the full calendar of their events in North Brooklyn.
