Did you know that the only venues where you are legally allowed to dance in Williamsburg are Rough Trade and Music Hall of Williamsburg? Andrew Muchmore (of the Williamsburg venue Muchmore’s) is taking on the 1926 NYC law that bans dancing. Tonight Muchmore’s is hosting a panel discussion on repealing the outdated law. From the event page:
Experts in the movement will share their surprising recent achievements. Let’s strategize as a Coalition. This is within reach. Be there to make history.
The event will take place at Muchmore’s, a community space which targeted by the Cabaret Law became a headquarters in the fight to repeal it. The panel will also focus on the law’s historic use as a conservative strategy to decimate cultural life, and give pragmatic tips on how to be heard by city government.
The event starts at 6:30pm tonight. See more info here at the Facebook invite.
