The GOASTT, the collaborative harmonic efforts of Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl, easily fell prey to my repeat button. Like a modern day translation of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin (or if you prefer, Bardot), these two make romanticized pop tunes that echo with the buzz and hum of ‘yore. The first single and A Side on their soon-to-be-released 7″ debut, “Jardin du Luxemburg”, sounds like a futuristic dream from what Austin Powers’ parties tried real hard to be.
The duo will be playing at Union Pool this Friday with opener Jordan Galland— director of the Sean Lennon scored film, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead.
FREEwilly has a pair of tickets to the show for one lucky reader… all you have to do is head on over to our Facebook page and comment on the contest thread for your chance to win.
For those of you who pull the short straw, tickets are still available and are well worth the 10 bucks. Produced by Mark Ronson, GOASTT”s self-titled debut will be released on July 6th by Chimera Music on vinyl and digital download.
