Even Kim Kardashian‘s supposed kidnapping couldn’t stop The Meadows Music and Arts Festival from making a triumphant return to New York City in 2017. Earlier today, the folks at Founders Entertainment (the same squad responsible for Governors Ball) announced that their Queens expansion, The Meadows, will once again take over Citi-Field this fall. This year’s festival will take place September 15th-17th, bringing with it an entire extra day of music, art, gourmet eats and activities.
Last year’s event surprised the hell out of us. Located just off of the 7-train in a lesser explored area of the city, The Meadows brought an unbelievably diverse lineup to an otherwise underwhelming festival season. After indulging in sets from local talent like Yeasayer, indie mainstays, Metric and Cage the Elephant, plus rare, electronic performances from Zhu and Grimes, we found our desire for excellent live music more than satiated following the stellar two-day party. We were floored by the professionalism and production of The Meadows’ inaugural showing. Needless to say, we’re stoked to see what tricks the Founders Entertainment team have up their sleeves for year two.
Their recently updated website states that a “special lineup announcement” will be coming soon. In the meantime, check out the official 2016 after movie and start making plans to check out NYC’s freshest new festival.
