Despite being denied a liquor license multiple times and opposition from local business owners, the Starbucks on Bedford and North 7th in Williamsburg will begin serving alcohol this Wednesday. From DNA info:
Williamsburg’s “coolest” Starbucks, at 154 North Seventh St., will start slinging booze Wednesday as part of “Starbucks Evenings,” in which the coffee chain will serve wine, beer and small plates in the late afternoon and evening.
Starbucks nabbed its beer-and-wine license from the State Liquor Authority late last year, despite opposition from Community Board 1 and an anti-Starbucks petition signed by more than 500 locals.
“Starbucks Evening” was previously thought to be the term for spending your evening locked in your bathroom after consuming a venti Caffè Latte during your “Starbucks Afternoon.”
The only thing these “Starbucks Evenings” will have in common with the previous iteration are choice tracks from Yanni and Kenny G’s joint album Their Greatest Hits to help make the whole experience more soothing.
