I hope everyone made the most of the long weekend (if indeed you had Monday off) and the perplexing yet glorious weather that came with it. No time for chit-chat, here’s some help for you to plan your weekends.
It seems like a lot of the local news is on a bit of a downer this week, neighbourhood bars are closing while Starbucks gets an alcohol licence, and then of course, there is this; it’s enough to make you question humanity. However, just like the fact that we’re actually living in the most peaceful time in human history is a hard one to accept before looking at the cold, hard data, this city we call home still offers great excitement as opposed to a gloom of lost opportunity. With plenty of summertime left to enjoy/endure, make the most of it by catching some shows!
It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been to the dance – CMJ Music Marathon is always a wild week of musical excess. This year’s fest (the 34th installment!) which begins next Tuesday, October 21, will be no different, with over 1,300 artists playing sets in 80 of the city’s venues. Death By Audio is inevitably going to go out in style before closing on the 22nd of November (I’m still not over it), and the venue’s website has updated its list of shows running up until Halloween. As you can imagine, there are some stellar picks available as we enter the last few weeks of having a reason to trundle down South 2nd.
