Happy memorial day weekend! This has already been a great week for shows, with Courtney Barnett on Tuesday and TV On the Radio on Wednesday already setting things up nicely. If you’re away travelling, you’ll be missing some outstanding music!
We know you’re currently busy prepping the perfect NYE outfit for tonight. Maybe you’re going the way of the black cocktail dress for a fancy dinner and private cocktail event (because you’re an adult now)? Perhaps you’re going Euro-sheik for tonight’s Techno banger at Output? Or, it’s possible you’re wearing a squirrel costume and doing something really cool we haven’t even heard about yet. Regardless, if you’re professional party people like us, then I know you’re looking for the next great night out, even as you’re planning for this one. Thankfully, Output has you covered this week with some awesome FREE shows, as long as you pop in before midnight. Check it, yo:
We’re back again this October with another round of killer events to enjoy this weekend. Kicking off tonight with some chillier weather, DFA Record’s and a NYC staple, Juan Maclean plays Cameo All Night Long with Nancy Whang hot on the heels of their new release. Over at Glasslands, Discovery celebrates their 5th anniversary with Honey Soundsystem’s (SF) Jason Kendig. On Saturday don’t miss The Bunker as they host Bulgaria’s techno wizard, Kink as well as Tin Man and Atom™. Finally cool off at Mister Sunday in Industrial City (that’s Sunset Park, Brooklyn) before begrudgingly heading back to work on Monday.
This weekend couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s finally the beginning of spring, temperatures are increasing and there are more club nights than you can shake a stick at. Starting off tonight, Cassian heads to Glasslands for a night of deep sexy disco with Body language and Travmatic. Mike Servito (The Bunker) and Nooka Jones also play an extended set of House and Techno over at Cameo. On Saturday, Seth Troxler kicks of his quarterly residency at Output. The new nascent night also begins with a live performance from John Roberts and support from Evan Michael and TURRBOTAX®’s Contakt. For those still up for dancing on Sunday, Cut Copy throws down a DJ Set at the newly opened Verboten coming off of their sold out Terminal 5 show.
Happy Near Year! We’ve made it into 2014 unscathed but with winter fast approaching. This week’s roundup is already a promising start to the new season with lots to hear and see. Indie/Electronic crossover and Brooklyn favorite, Neon Indian returns to Cameo tomorrow for a late night DJ set with Joel Ford (Ejecta) and Heathered Pearls. Then make your way to Glasslands for the NY Debut of Night Slug’s Egyptrixx A/V set. On Saturday, The Bunker celebrates an 11th Anniversary at Output with a lineup chock full of their standards like Silent Servant, Heartthrob and resident Mike Servito. Stay bundled up for the journey outside, but with the heat these events are generating it’s likely you’ll be ditching that coat right at the door.
But before it’s all turkey-sleep-shopping-repeat, it’s time to take a look at what’s good this weekend in North Brooklyn and what’s worth getting down to.
If Nu Disco and Deep House are more of your thing, then head over to Cameo Gallery for their monthly Brooklyn Bass residency. This Saturday they’ll be hosting Justin Miller (DFA / Have a Killer Time) and Nooka Jones (Percussion Lab), along with the three residents: Judge Wise, T’Angelo, and Evan Michael. After serving as taste-maker for DFA Records over the last years, Justin Miller is now on the verge of launching his new Have A Killer Time Label that should see releases by the end of this year.
You can RSVP at [email protected] for reduced entry as well.
