Thief attempts to rob Bedford Ave taco truck with unimaginative weapon

Recently a very unsuccessful attempt was made to rob a taco truck on Bedford Avenue. I’m assuming the targeted truck was Tacos Morelos as they are usually posted up by the Bedford L train stop. From Brooklyn Paper:

A hungry punk held up a taco truck with what appeared to be a gun on Bedford Avenue on May 13, police said.

The victim told police that he was working in the Mexican food truck near N. Sixth Street at 2:10 am when the cretin walked up to him with a plastic bag over his hand.

“Give me the money,” the brigand said. The victim hid in the truck and the robber ran off without taking any money, officials said.

I can’t believe that didn’t work!

Good In The Hood: La Superior

Good in the Hood: In this feature we take a further look at the restaurants around the neighborhood.

The Scene: If you’re a decade-plus New Yorker who’s always traveling to California, it can be torturous to eat even the best tacos New York has to offer. Nothing can compare to the flavor and character of a fresh Cali taco, just as the West Coast still can’t figure out how to make pizza. For me the moment my feelings changed for the better about New York tacos, was the first time I ate at La Superior. There are other great Mexican tacos to be had in North Brooklyn at Wythe Diner, Vamos Al Tequila, Carino, Mesa Coyoacan, and Bushwick’s Tortilleria Mexicana Los-Hermanos. But for the price, style and quality it’s hard to top this small, hole-in-the-wall spot.

Who It’s For: If you’re looking for an affordable sit-down Mexican meal as opposed to grabbing something quick at a taco truck or the nearby Woods or Union Pool, La Superior is the spot. While the prices are cheap, the menu can venture into foodie territory if you want to pay a little more for an entree and have something unique. This is one of those few places where your friends of different income levels can all be happy. Warning: if you think Taco Bell or Chipotle is good Mexican food or get your panties in a knot when you’re jammed into a tiny restaurant, with limited space between neighboring tables, you will not enjoy this amazing spot.

You can now own the Endless Summer taco truck

endlesssummer

The Endless Summer taco truck, a Williamsburg staple for the past half decade has been mysteriously absent from Bedford Ave. It turns out the owners are auctioning off the truck on eBay. Bids start at $45,000, or you can buy the whole operation including permits for $60,000. From the auction:

The globally renown Endless Summer Taco Truck is now for sale. The enterprise that started the vending trend in Williamsburg, Brooklyn (and arguably ignited the worldwide food truck craze) has nourished literally hundreds of thousands of satisfied customers and established itself as a landmark in the NYC food-culture landscape.

After 5 years, both owners are relocating from NYC and have decided to sell. This is a perfect opportunity to maintain a well-established moneymaking operation or re-brand it to satisfy your own culinary vision. Either way the Bedford Ave. location and circumstances are ideal.

Anyone want to chip in to buy this and travel cross-country all summer handing out free tacos while filming a documentary about it? Ok good, me neither.
