Somehow D’Angelo made a song that is at the same time better than anything Chris Cornell has done in the past 15 years, and also (by default since he hasn’t released anything) the best thing D’Angelo himself has released in over a decade. It’s a souled out, sort of trippy rendition of the classic grunge jam “Black Hole Sun.” I like listening to this version and picturing the stretched out faces of everyone in the original Soundgarden video.
