40 unconventional “love” songs for past, present, + future bae

Love songs don’t have to be mushy and chock-full of cliches. They can be dirty, weird, morbid, depressing, hyper-sexual, or just plain straightforward. The sentiment can come from both the heart AND the pants. It doesn’t matter how you say I love you, or I want you, or I want to die if you die—there are a lot of ways to tell bae you care. Original Post 2/3/2015

Remember that sweet little southern festival I covered last year down on the Louisville waterfront? Well Forecastle Festival is back, and the lineup is anything but small. Heading the bill are Sam Smith, Widespread Panic, Modest Mouse and the Ville’s (because that’s what we call it back home) own My Morning Jacket (who totally bring it every time they play their hometown). Though the festival skews toward mainstream and indie rock acts, Forecastle’s lineup is still exceptionally diverse with a balanced offering of establish and up and coming acts from genres spanning electronic, hip-hop, punk, bluegrass and more, with additional artists still to be announced.

Rock is king with bands like The Cold War Kids, Cage The Elephant, Houndmouth and former Wilco frontman, Tweedy, heading up the bill. King Tuff, Speedy Ortiz and the politely named Diarrhea Planet bring a punk flair to the kentucky-fried fest.

Electronic fans will be delighted to see acts like RL Grime, electro-funk duo Cherub, pop-quartet Milo Greene and breakout vocalist Keisza who wowed us with Hideaway before stealing the spotlight at literally every club this fall/winter with her infectious performance on Jack U’s, Take U There.

Hip-Hop fans have the pleasure of getting close and personal with Atlanta’s own iLoveMakonen, and Mississippi rapper/producer Big K.R.I.T. The hip-hop lineup is slightly lighter than last year’s, but that may just seem to be the case without a major headlining act like Outkast to pull the weight in one direction.

Shovels and Rope, St. Paul and the Broken Bones and Sturgill Simpson are representing soul and country, reminding Forecastle fans of the festival’s lengthy roots and the path that has helped it grow from a neighborhood block party to a major multi-day festival that pulls top tier acts from across the country.

So, you guys are going to come get rowdy with me right? You can get your three-day GA passes HERE for less than $165, or get one of the cheapest VIP options you’ll find at $399.50 for a 3-Day VIP pass.  Wooohoo! Let’s see how Sam Smith reacts to the south!

Bonnaroo 2015 Lineup

UPDATE 1/13/15

The official Bonnaroo lineup is here, and WHAT A LINEUP INDEED! For headliners you’re looking at the Piano Man Billy Joel, returning acts Mumford and Sons and one of rap and hip-hops finest, Kendrick Lamar. For the first time ever, it’s been said that an EDM act will also be taking a coveted spot at the mainstage, and this year it’s all about the mysterious helmeted dub/chord/bass aficionado Deadmau5!

Other “HOLY SHIT THIS INSANE” acts include Tears for Fears, Earth Wind and Fire, and Robert Plant and the Sesational Shapeshifters. Bonnaroo stays true to its jam and bluegrass roots with acts like Pokey Lafarge, The Punch Brothers, Medeski, Scofield, Martin and Wood, Bela Fela and Abigail Washburn and STS9.
