Another week down, another week of depressing Trump-related theocratic idiocy, at least there are a few fun things to do this weekend in amongst the necessary protests and rallies. Thanks to Peter for stepping in last week, I can say that doing a 70-hour working week with a fever is not terribly fun, but is a good way to lose weight if you’re still carrying those extra lbs from christmas. Don Giovanni arguably have the most consistent roster around right now with the likes of Brick Mower, Priests, California X, Waxahatchee, Black Wine and flagship band, Screaming Females all gracing the New Brunswick-based label.

Screamales kicked off their latest tour in Baltimore the previous night and there was no sign of any early-tour rustiness as the band customarily blitzed through their sold-out 60-minute set at the Knitting Factory on Saturday evening. Black Wine and Brick Mower are playing at Death By Audio on Friday 22nd of August

Black Wine have just released their latest album, Yell Boss, on Don Giovanni Records and are playing a record release show at Death By Audio this Friday (22nd of August). The record hits a bit harder than 2012’s Hollow Earth though as usual the trio split songwriting and singing duties between them.  The album artwork is by Screaming Females‘ Marissa Paternoster and you can listen to lead single, Rime, below the jump.
