Brooklyn Electronic Dance Round Up: June 12-13

Trapped in the heat and you can’t get out? This weekend’s Northside Festival is due to be a hot one so make sure to stay hydrated! For those looking to keep the party going after the showcases, I’m back laying out the weekend’s finds for nightlife pleasure seeking. Starting with The Bunker tonight, presenting a heavy night of techno, celebrating the release of EPs on their label from both Løt.te and Mark Verbos. Then its off to Bushwick where you can find left field producer Willie Burns (L.I.E.S., WT Records) melding records together from years worth of collecting at Brooklyn’s The Thing record store. Cap it all off at the newly opened Black Flamingo for a classic night of Disco and House from Jacques Renault and Justin Miller. Saturday begins early with a daytime rooftop special at Output with Metro Area and local staples Kaviar Disco Club. For the pièce de résistance you can find Tigersushi honcho and french bred DJ/Producer Joakim at Cameo for an all night long DJ set with the legendary Justin Strauss! Go out and get some New York! – @evvnmichael

Tiki Disco season opener is this Sunday

Has anyone checked out any of the “Tiki Disco” events? If you haven’t, you absolutely want to make your way to Bushwick(Morgan L stop) on Sunday for the opening of their 3rd season at Roberta’s. It started out with three friends(Andy Pry, Lloydski, Eli Escobar) just spinning for their pals and neighborhood locals. Now it’s insane! I’m talking lines out the door insane.

If you want to make sure you get in, I would suggest showing up before the 2pm start time. Their parties tend to reach capacity within the first hour. Be prepared for a full 8 hrs of dancing to classic house and disco mashed with some of the tasteful sounds of the present. Party ends around 10pm. Lets all pray and knock on as much wood as possible that the Sun has been kind to dear old mother nature and she has nothing to cry about this weekend.

Pop-Up Disco at Metro Community Laundromat. Wait. What?

image c/o Travis LoDolce

Gilt City New York has your ticket to a posh evening of top-shelf punches and disco beats in…a Williamsburg laundromat?

That’s right.  On Friday, June 17 from 10:30pm to 4am, Metropolitan Community Laundromat (aka “The Laundromat That Never Sleeps”) on Metropolitan Ave. and Lorimer will be living up to its moniker by hosting the Dirty Disco Laundrette Party.  DJs The Juan MacLean and Justin Miller of DFA Records are set to spin (we presume) BeeGees and Donna Summer at this pop-up renegade dance party.  The $75 ticket also includes sweet open bar access all sexy night long.

Promotion ends Thursday, June 16 at 10am.
