Happy 4th of July, everyone, a long weekend is just what the doctor ordered. When all around is madness (I’m looking at the idiotic result of the EU referendum back home in the UK. Absolutely horrifyingly stupid), I’d suggest substituting banging your head against a wall for seeing a show or three.
We’ve had several failed attempts at summer kicking off this year, but the Northside festival always seems to usher in the season semi-officially for us here at Free Williamsburg. With a music lineup that breaks a whopping 400 in number, there is plenty to cram in over the course of 4 days, it’s not too late to buy a badge, and single-ticket shows are available here. While the laws of physics dictate that you can’t be everywhere at the same time, we’re here to help out with the suggestions of who, where and when (not to mention finding time for a beer).
Thanks to Pete for subbing last week. After a disappointing Manhattenhenge, the recent pictures of Pluto (still not a planet) have shown just what staggering things humans can achieve when they put their minds to it. I don’t know about the rest of you, but when faced with the stupendous, staggering scale of the cosmos, I like to rein things in a little bit and contemplate the comforting purposelessness of it all with a show or three, so let’s get right to it.
