Happy Near Year! We’ve made it into 2014 unscathed but with winter fast approaching. This week’s roundup is already a promising start to the new season with lots to hear and see. Indie/Electronic crossover and Brooklyn favorite, Neon Indian returns to Cameo tomorrow for a late night DJ set with Joel Ford (Ejecta) and Heathered Pearls. Then make your way to Glasslands for the NY Debut of Night Slug’s Egyptrixx A/V set. On Saturday, The Bunker celebrates an 11th Anniversary at Output with a lineup chock full of their standards like Silent Servant, Heartthrob and resident Mike Servito. Stay bundled up for the journey outside, but with the heat these events are generating it’s likely you’ll be ditching that coat right at the door.
The weekend is back with copious amounts of parties and events to keep you busy for quite awhile. Brooklyn Bass returns to Cameo on Friday with NY techno legend Anthony Parasole while Blkmarket hosts an all day party on Saturday at Output including John Roberts and DJ Koze. But the fun doesn’t stop there…The beats continues with Andrés, The Black Madonna, Bunker and a new Sunday disco daytime burner at The Woods. Plan your schedule accordingly and enjoy the mild weather.
March is upon us and I’ve already felt a tad warmer this morning hoping that spring was here. Alas, Brooklyn is still cold as hell at nighttime, and yes you’ve still got to check that pesky coat wherever your going. However, this weekend is shaping up to be a good one. With an eclectic array of events this friday and saturday, theres enough to get down to, ranging from minimal techno to wild and crazy disco.
This weekend there’s more than fifty different NYC nightlife events going on and that’s just the listings on Resident Advisor alone! I’ll take the time now to break down the top five North Brooklyn events that rise to the top. Whether it’s Kim Ann Foxman helping to open the new Bossa Nova Civic Club in Bushwick, or The Panorama Bar (Berlin) resident, Prosumer throwing down hard house music at The Bunker, there’s certainly a variety of choices.
But before it’s all turkey-sleep-shopping-repeat, it’s time to take a look at what’s good this weekend in North Brooklyn and what’s worth getting down to.
If Nu Disco and Deep House are more of your thing, then head over to Cameo Gallery for their monthly Brooklyn Bass residency. This Saturday they’ll be hosting Justin Miller (DFA / Have a Killer Time) and Nooka Jones (Percussion Lab), along with the three residents: Judge Wise, T’Angelo, and Evan Michael. After serving as taste-maker for DFA Records over the last years, Justin Miller is now on the verge of launching his new Have A Killer Time Label that should see releases by the end of this year.
You can RSVP at [email protected] for reduced entry as well.
Our friends over at Brooklyn Bass are throwing themselves a one year anniversary party that you should probably go to tonight. Its free!
