The San Fran-based sausage joint on Williamsburg’s southside opened five years ago to much buzz, but never really seemed to blow up the way people expected it would.
Sure, there are many local admirers, but personally we’d rather go to Radegast Hall when we have a craving for sausage.
You have until Sunday to give Rosamunde Sausage Grill one last try.
Rosamunde, the beloved SF transplant and destination for some of the city’s best sausages, will close this Sunday, September 17th. The neighborhood bar and restaurant opened in 2012 on Bedford Avenue in the neighborhood’s south side.
“We had five years of strong presence in Williamsburg and it’s just time to focus on our operations on the West Coast,” Rosamunde owner Josh Margolis said of the decision to close the NYC location. “Everybody is sad, including our staff and all of our regulars. It’s not the happiest of times to close the restaurant, but we’re very happy with what we were able to accomplish in Brooklyn and we are focused on the Bay Area.”
Taking over the space are Sal Fristensky and Bill Mack, the owners of Lucky Dog, the bar on the next block. They’ll be joined for this new venture by Russ Woodall—a five year veteran of Williamsburg steak house St. Anselm… Fristensky and Mack own four bars in Williamsburg—including Lucky Dog, George & Jack’s, Skinny Dennis and Rocka Rolla—in addition to another in Bed-Stuy, each with a thematic element tying them together. Fristensky says they haven’t yet landed on what concept they’ll be exploring in the 285 Bedford Avenue space, but the new bar will not be serving food, that much is clear.
