The skies have finally cleared, so it will be the perfect night to see 2013’s The Punk Singer on the deck of McCarren Park Pool. The film focuses on Kathleen Hanna and the riot grrrl movement. The screening is free and is part of the city’s Movies Under the Stars series.
If you’re looking to swim you’ll have to wait a few more weeks. McCarren Park Pool reopens June 29.

Celebrate Music Month with NYC Parks and New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment! Celebrate Music this month with The Punk Singer. This award-winning documentary looks at the life of activist, musician, and cultural icon Kathleen Hanna, who formed the punk band Bikini Kill and pioneered the “riot grrrl” movement of the 1990s.
