Brooklyn techno fans had even more reasons to celebrate their independence over 4th of July weekend when global event series HYTE came stateside to North Brooklyn, bringing with them an all-star lineup of international techno artists. Talk about feeling FREE. Acts like Berlin-based duo Pan-Pot, New York native Danny Tengalia, French trio Apollonia and Iranian American producer Dubfire were just a few acts that brought slammin’ techno to the Brooklyn Hanger, which was expertly transformed into a multi-stage festival for the duration of the weekend.
The main room was exceptionally packed as techno’s heavy hitters performed in an almost cattle call fashion, leaving little downtime between sets, allowing for a particularly energized house. Downstairs offered a more relaxed vibe and a tech house soundtrack, for those who needed an escape from the rattling bass on the main floor (no seriously, at one point the ceiling started raining on . The outdoors stage continued to pulse beats long after the DJs had left, offering a welcome escape from the steamy warehouse. HYTE will be returning to Brooklyn over Halloween weekend with party plans so good they’re scary.
