Pallbearer announce new album in advance of Northside Festival showcase

pbAfter two years, a million riffs, and countless tour dates, Southern Doom overlords Pallbearer—the de-facto metal breakthrough of 2012—have officially announced their sophomore album, Foundations of Burden, due August 19th via Profound Lore. Their simultaneously devastating-but-life-affirming debut, Sorrow and Extinction, is by no means an easy act to follow, but Pallbearer have armed themselves accordingly, recruiting Billy Anderson (Eyehategod, Sleep, Red House Painters) to produce and Animetalphysical for what might be the raddest album art I’ve seen this year.

If you just can’t wait until August, Pallbearer headline Pitchfork’s Show No Mercy/Hell Awaits Northside Showcase at Europa next Thursday (6/12) alongside Planning for Burial, Hull, Yellow Eyes, and Vilkacis. As any guy or gal stomping around Brooklyn with a backpatch can tell you, this one will sell out, so make sure to grab tickets or, better yet, badges before they’re gone.
