I was a big fan of Molly Burch‘s 2017 debut album, Please Be Mine, calling it an effortlessly smooth collection of ten tracks. Her follow-up, First Flower, is out this Friday (the 5th) again via Captured Tracks. The record is as impeccable and immaculate as her debut, but there is so much more confidence in the material that really comes through.
To celebrate the release of First Flower, you can catch Molly at Rough Trade on the 13th of October, which is one of the best sounding rooms in the city and should help bring out the intricacies of the material; tickets are available here. Opening the show is Olden Yolk, whose self-titled psych-folk record from earlier this year is a real undiscovered treasure.
You can listen to the three singles from the record below the jump (don’t skip on the album’s opener, Candy in particular).
