Missing Williamsburg Teen Was Just Playing Basketball To Avoid Family

Darrey Crosby, a 15-year old Williamsburg resident, went missing at around 2:30 on Saturday afternoon. His sister found him wandering the streets, his family told the Daily News on Sunday.

Because Crosby suffers from autism, his disappearance drew comparisons to Avonte Oquendo, the 14-year old autistic Queens student whose remains were discovered in January after his disappearance in October of last year.

Crosby told the Daily News he was playing basketball to avoid dealing with his family. Pretty standard stuff for a 15-year old. We’re glad he’s safe.
