UPDATE: Cops fatally shoot hit-and-run driver who killed man in Williamsburg crash
Terribly sad news. The victim’s name has not been released.
A driver hit and killed a man on Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg before dawn on Monday, then sped away, police said.
The motorist behind the wheel of a Sport-Utility Vehicle, who cops have yet to name, slammed into the victim near Varick Avenue around 3:47 am while driving along Metropolitan Avenue toward Newtown Creek.
Paramedics found the man — the father of a young son who authorities said lives in Bushwick — with head and body trauma lying unconscious and unresponsive in the street, and rushed him to Woodhull Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Saddened and appalled that there has been yet another hit and run in my district. My thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family. We MUST do more to guarantee that reckless drivers are not licensed to operate motor vehicles on city streets. https://t.co/cX56mbK2ok
