From the Daily News:
Cops are investigating the death of a 67-year-old man found dead on a Manhattan-bound L train at the Lorimer St.-Metropolitan Ave. station early Wednesday. The homeless man, who was found sitting up on a subway car seat, was declared dead at the scene just before 2 a.m. His name was not immediately disclosed.
An autopsy couldn’t pinpoint exactly when the man died, but it was not long before his body found, a transit source said.
Area cops and transit workers knew the dead man and had “offered him services” in the past.
“It was someone we’ve been in contact with in the past,” a police source said.
Transit workers noticed the man as everyone disembarked the L train to switch to a shuttle bus.
Because of overnight system maintenance, there was no service between Lorimer St. and Eighth Ave. in Manhattan, officials said.
“He was sitting up and appeared to be sleeping,” a transit source said. “One of the workers tried to wake him and was unable to wake him.”
