Williamsburg and Greenpoint will once again be prime viewing locations for the July 4th Macy’s Fireworks. Mayor Bill De Blasio just announced at a press conference that the fireworks will officialy return to the East River for the first time since 2009. This means for those of us in places such as Williamsburg or Greenpoint we won’t have to observe the fireworks from across the entire island of Manhattan. From NY Daily News:

This July 4, the more than 40,000 pyrotechnics will be set off from barges in the river from the Manhattan bridge stretching down toward the harbor — and from atop the Brooklyn Bridge. That will make the bridge a prime part of the show for the first time since 1995.

    ‘Bout friggin’ time. Geez.

  2. I doubt Williamsburg and Greenpoint will be prime viewing locations as the show will be beyond the brooklyn bridge from those two neighborhoods.
