A report from the NY Daily News says that the L train shutdown and the transformation of Williamsburg into a forsaken prison colony might not happen for a while:
MTA officials believe the L train tunnel closure that has the north Brooklyn community reeling will likely begin in 2018, at the earliest, Assemblyman Joe Lentol told the Daily News Tuesday.
During a meeting last week that included agency Chairman Tom Prendergast and NYC Transit President Ronnie Hakim, elected officials were told that repair work on the underwater Canarsie Tube is still a ways off.
The officials also seem to think just one tunnel may be closed at a time or that the L line would only shut down on nights and weekends. Read more at NY Daily News.
