To paraphrase Lester Bangs, "They were BETTER than
The Fugs". Much has been written about bringing
back rock, but Albino Combover is here to finish the job.
Sissy Neal and Hank "Big Double" Gordan met in
1999, while both we're stranded at a truck stop with broken
down cars. They met again in Austin six months later and
have been a load two-piece rock ride ever since that show
no signs of slowing.
FW: Okay, you are a two piece rock band, guitar and
drums, boy and girl. Sounds familiar.
HG: Now let me clear something up, Sissy's all lady
and I'm as man as they come, so we're not a boy and girl
combo. Seriously though, we love Jack and Meg's sibling/divorcee
act, but let me put an end to any questions about us. We
fuck all the time.
SN: That's right we do, Hank.
FW: How do you feel about being assigned to save
rock and roll?
HG: Pretty good. We're up for it. When we're on the
road, playing everywhere from piers to parties to prisons,
I feel like rock and roll is breeding. Just the looks we
get, we're making America horny every night and that's what's
gonna save rock and roll. A lot of bands bring raw power
to the stage but Sissy and I bring amatory.
SN: You all should really play our record in the
bedroom, or if you don't, you better get a little nasty
wherever you are.
FW: What's the name "Albino Combover" all
about?
HG: When Sissy and I met at that truckstop, there
was a guy there who was white as biscuit gravy. He was an
albino. He had this awfully thin hair swept from one ear
up over his bald skull to the other ear. It was a heck of
a sad hairdo. Sissy and I kinda laughed and then we both
caught a little fire in each other's eyes. So we thought
we'd name our rock band after the man who turned us on to
each other for the first time.
