The new bar is part of the Williamsburg Hotel at 96 Wythe Avenue. It looks lovely, that is, if you can afford it:
The Water Tower bar, which opened on Nov. 16, is across the street from the former Rosenwach Water Tower Factory — now the site of yet another boutique hotel, The Hoxton.
The project comes from hotelier/developer Toby Moskovits, head of Heritage Equity Partners, which is banking on high-priced exclusivity as a formula for success: 45 seats, $500 bottle service and $525 caviar tastings.
“My roots are deep in this neighborhood, and I have worked hard to build spaces and moments that tell the story of past and present,” Moskovits said. “The Water Tower is one such place.”
Beverage director Rael Petit’s creations range from CBD oil-infused $22 cocktails to a $150 truffle-infused Aperol drink while Exec Chef Nic Caicedo has added raw bars, and truffled grilled cheese to the mix.
Shiny walls feature a colorful, kitsch interior from London’s Michaelis Boyd Studio — with images in the spirit of pop artist Roy Lichtenstein.
Some of the choice posters might provide some L train-closure solace, such as Wonder Woman and phrases like, “Dear Brain … Please Shut Up!” and “If I agreed with you, then we’d both be wrong.”
In other words, fuck this place.
