Devendra Banhart will have the first solo gallery show of his artwork mounted at the Roth Horowitz Gallery located at 160A East 70th Street New York, NY. The show opens to the public November 5, runs through December 20. The show will feature 20 or more pieces, a number of them done this Summer and Fall “all drawings of mosquitos” while Banhart was sequestered in Maries de La Mer in Southern France. A limited edition book of his work will be produced in conjunction with the show. Banhart will be performing a headlining show at the Bowery Ballroom November 7, kicking off a U.S. tour in support of his third Young God album, Nino Rojo.
Banhart attended the San Francisco Art Institute but left without taking a degree to concentrate on his music while couch serving through Paris and Los Angeles before being signed to Young God Records and relocating to New York. He has released three critically acclaimed albums in the U.S. OH ME OH MY THE WAY THE DAY GOES BY THE SUN IS SETTING DOGS ARE DREAMING LOVESONGS OF THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT in 2002, Rejoicing In The Hands in April 2004 and Nino Rojo in late September 2004.
