Over 20 years ago the folks at Chrome Industries started making messenger bags in a garage in Denver. In 2010 they opened their first store in New York at 238 Mulberry in Nolita. Now they’ve brought their world-class bags, shoes and apparel to Williamsburg at 76 N 4th St in the Lewis Steel building.
The newest Chrome Hub features the latest Chrome gear, from footwear to backpacks to US-made denim alongside an in-house custom bag maker who hand crafts some of Chrome’s most popular bag styles on the spot, letting you pick your favorite colors or even bring in your own material to make “Salvage” bags. Sweet.
But Chrome Hubs go beyond just retail space. Each of Chrome’s stores has unique features like an adjacent art gallery in Denver, in-store coffee shops in San Francisco and Seattle or a place to host a killer party like their now-legendary, annual pre-Red Hook Crit party at the Manhattan store, for instance.
Chrome’s Brooklyn Hub is a welcome addition to the already crazy-good bike scene in Williamsburg but you don’t have to be a bike nut to get psyched about Chrome Industries in Brooklyn.
