Glasserie chef leaving – “immensely challenging” tenure… “the owner and I have encountered much difficulty…”

Anyone who follows this site knows we love Glasserie (aka Greenpoint’s best restaurant). That said, this is horrible news!

I know it may come as a surprise to those of you distant enough from the situation. But for those of you who are closer, you know that it has been a long time coming. Despite Glasserie’s critical success, the project has been immensely challenging from the start. The owner and I have encountered much difficulty in trying to unite our distinct visions for the restaurant. And as I prefer to avoid building further upon a shaky foundation, I’m choosing to rebuild entirely.

It is not without a sincere measure of sadness that I walk away, but I’m more taken by the feeling of excitement and possibility going forward. I don’t have a concrete new project to divulge yet, but stay tuned.
