Gawker posted some helpful tips today for people who wear backpacks. Wearing your backpack in a crowded subway car (especially the L train) can really make you the bane of your fellow rider’s existence. From Gawker:
If you step aboard a subway car and stop, leaving a little bit of room for the people behind you, your backpack will leave less than a little bit of room. (That is: no room.)
I occasionally bring a backpack on the subway and here’s my one simple rule: If the subway is crowded, take off your backpack and put it between your feet. That way there is no chance of bumping someone in the face and incurring their wrath. Now if we could just do something about Men Taking Up Too Much Space On The Train.
