With the impending L Train shutdown on the horizon, we’ve sadly seen a lot of restaurant closings in the last couple of months. Benelux
The partners behind Little King, a bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, have set out to deliver the food of Belgium, as well as neighboring Netherlands and Luxembourg, in a diner setting. Colby Rasavong, who was at Husk in Charleston, S.C., is the chef. Mussels and fries, a ham-and-cheese sandwich that comes piled with fries, braised cabbage steak and a waterzooi stew of lentils and vegetables are on his menu, along with a collection of beers.25 Bogart Street (Varet Street), Bushwick, Brooklyn, 718-366-3262, beneluxbk.com.
In addition, there’s a new gastropub in Williamsburg called The Hive
Sandwiches and burgers make up the bulk of the pub-like menu at the Hive, a new Williamsburg restaurant helmed by two ABC Kitchen alum. Anton Dayrit and sous chef Minji Suh, who both worked at ABC Kitchen and ABC Cocina, have varied sandwich options like grilled merguez sausage sandwich, a fried chicken sandwich with espresso-infused honey, and a burger with a tomato-onion chutney. A pesto pasta, fish tacos, salads, and guacamole are also on deck. Owner and Brooklyn native Liz Mandarano considers it classic American fare with international influences.
