Death By Audio is inevitably going to go out in style before closing on the 22nd of November (I’m still not over it), and the venue’s website has updated its list of shows running up until Halloween. As you can imagine, there are some stellar picks available as we enter the last few weeks of having a reason to trundle down South 2nd.
Coleman has already pointed out that DBA is the place to be this Sunday (hope you have a ticket), but beyond that, I wanted to single out some highlights.
On the 22nd of October you can see Tweens, who have released one of my favourite albums of 2014. They played DBA earlier in the year (picture above) and it was one of the best sets I’ve ever seen at the venue. They’re also in town for a free CMJ show earlier that day at Arlene’s Grocery, RSVP here.
It’s no surprise but still a relief to see A Place to Bury Strangers playing DBA one final time, they play on the 27th.
Protomartyr play a show hosted by Hardly Art on the 24th, which includes a “Special Guest”.
I’m a big fan of Purling Hiss and their guitar bonfire, but I’ve never seen them at DBA before which sounds like a perfect marriage. That bill also includes another “Secret Guest” and the fuzzed up sounds of Meatbodies on Wednesday the 29th (Meatbodies also play a stacked KLXU / Burger Records show that is free on the 23rd).
