The stabbing took place just blocks from the Bedford Avenue subway stop and around the corner from the newly-opened Whole Foods. DNA has more:
A man was critically stabbed by three muggers who robbed him of his cellphone in Williamsburg Monday, police said.
The 25-year-old victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with three stab wounds to the torso and remains in critical condition, police said.
Police said three suspects approached the victim on the corner of Berry and N. 5th Streets in Williamsburg around 2:15 a.m.
The trio demanded the victim’s belongings, at which point a scuffle ensued, police said.
Donna Montalvo, 55, lives on the corner where the stabbing took place and heard screaming coming from the street around 2 a.m.
“I got up to go to the bathroom and heard yelling,” Montalvo said, adding that she didn’t think anything of it and went back to bed.
