Well, that jerk Toby had me landlocked last week. Things I learned: you can make plans to go to Miami Music Week, but sometimes winter storms have other plans for you. Speaking of which, how the hell are we supposed to keep up with all of these fancy names for sh*t weather: Bomb Cyclone, Polar Vortex, Nor’easter … seriously, this is more difficult than keeping up with dubstep monikers.
If you can’t tell, I’m feeling a bit stir crazy. But there is some good news after! Check out all of the dope shows coming to keep us occupied under sunnier skies below.
1.) MK @ Analog BK (Friday, March 30th) – This weekend marks another joyous homecoming for all-star producer and former Brooklyner, Marc Kinchen aka MK. His chart topping single, 17, made us feel young again. Let’s blow off some of that teenage steam close to home before he wows summer festival goers globe with his charming brand of upbeat and soulful house music. Get tickets HERE.
2.) Jax Jones @ Output (Friday, March 30th) – It’s time to add some House Work to Friday’s to-do list, because Timucin Fabian Kwong Wah Aluo is hitting the hood. That’s one awesome mouthful, but you probably know the English producer better as Jax Jones. He’ll be drilling Output’s weeklyn INPUT party with beats so dirty, it will require hours of clean up. Australian House duo, The Aston Shuffle, will keep it deep in The Panther Room. Get tickets HERE.
2.) MATTE Presents: BLACK @ Secret Brooklyn Location (Saturday, March 31st) – The organizers behind the annual Full Moon Fest have something darker in store for NYC’s elite partygoers. This Saturday, MATTE gives us reason to revel in the absence of light, as we celebrate the power of sound, visual art and other exciting presentations crafted to inspire and disrupt the mind. Techno visionary Dixon sits high atop the bill of performers which also includes South African DJ, Culoe De Song and NOLIFE, a prolific producer best known for his contributions across Frank Ocean’s discography. Get tickets HERE.
3.) TOKiMONSTA: The Lune Rouge Experience @ Brooklyn Steel (Saturday, March 31st) – Jennifer Lee‘s journey has been a unique one. After experiencing a rare brain condition and subsequent surgery, she was challenged with learning how to walk, talk and produce again. Her surprising 2017 Lune Rouge LP proved that nothing can hold back TOKiMONSTA back. She brings these dreamy, smoke-laced sounds to a perfectly appropriate venue when she hits East Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Steel this Saturday. Get tickets HERE.
5.) UMEK @ Schimanski NYC (Saturday, March 31st) – Touting more than 20 years of experience on the decks, several techno labels (including Consumer Recreation and Recycling Loops) and a popular podcast series, few can boast as many successful ventures as Slovenian artist, UMEK. This Saturday he brings his rich discography to Schimanski NYC’s visually immersive dance floor. Get tickets HERE.
