Love is in the air … or not.

Let’s face it – Valentines Day is one of those holidays you either love, or love to hate. It’s totally okay to be one of the many New Yorkers who is still swiping left, waiting for that special someone. And if you there wasn’t a heart-shaped box of chocolates or a dozen red roses waiting for you at your desk this morning, that’s cool too. Go ahead and put aside that gnawing fear that you are going to choke on the last bite of dinner, forever alone in your studio apartment. *BREATHE* It’s going to be OKAY. I promise.

Instead of being forlorn about the “single” status glaring back at you from your Facebook profile, use this as an opportunity to seize the day. When is the last time you took a chance on something or someone new? I’m going to give you a bit of advice for the weekend proceeding this somewhat gross Hallmark Holiday. Ditch the bar, and hit the dancefloor. You never know who might just boogie into your life! If you’re scratching your head wondering which show your future boo will be hitting, I have some advice on that front too.

1.) GTA: 3 Night Stand @ Brooklyn Night Bazaar (Wednesday, February 14 – Friday, February 16) – Well here’s something we didn’t see coming from GTA. The Miami-based duo is best known for throwing down filthy bass sets laced with trap and dubstep tracks. Now they’re here to show us that they’re anything but one trick ponies. Starting tonight, MeanRed brings GTA’s 3NIGHTSTAND tour to the new Brooklyn Night Bazaar at 150 Greenpoint Ave. Tonight, pull your honey close and dance the night away to techno and house. Thursday is dedicated to moombahton, club and world music, and Friday you’ll get what made GTA famous in the first place – rap, trap and bass.  Get 3-night passes HERE.

MIja

2.) Mija: Never B Alone Tour @ House of Yes (Thursday, February 15) – And while we’re on the topic, let us not forget mija’s stance on genres: f*ck them. The busy diva returns to House of Yes on her Never B Alone Tour. This time she’s swinging toward UK New Wave and disco beats with the help of LA-based producer Ryan Forever (with whom she went b2b at this month’s Dirtybird East Coast Campout in St. Cloud, FL) and Devon James. While I don’t love everything mija plays, I can’t help but respect her ambition. The girl does not stop pushing the boundaries, and when she strikes gold, it really glimmers.  Get tickets HERE.

3.) Detroit Love feat. Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson and Recloose @ Schimanski NYC (Friday, February 16) – Fiending for techno? Legends Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson and Recloose join forces for a night powered by Detroit Love. Schimanski NYC’s dark interiors and immersive visuals will set the perfect mood for a night of classic techno. Get tickets HERE.

Marco

4.) MUSIC ON New York feat. Marco Corola and guests @ Depot 52 (Friday, February 16) – Italian DJ and producer Marco Corola brings his signature MUSIC ON party to Sunset Park’s warehouse district this Friday. Touted for shaping the scene in the early 90s, Marco Corola continues to wow crowds with his unmatched, on-stage endurance (he played for 24-hours at the Sunwaves Festival in Romania.)  Teksupport has pulled out some serious stops for this lineup. Corola will be joined by Brooklyn’s own Danny Tenaglia, among a slew of other techno chart toppers. Get tickets HERE.

LTJ Bukem

5.) LTJ Bukem (EXTENDED DJ SET) @ Brooklyn Bowl (Saturday, February 17) – Nothing says “I love you” like a little drum&bass. The groundbreaking dnb pioneer, LTJ Bukem, is giving you a reason to snuggle something fierce this Saturday when he brings a night of sensuous grooves to Brooklyn Bowl for this edition of “Valentine’s Special”. During his extended DJ set, he will be accompanied by acclaimed MC duo, Armanni Reign and TRAC. If you’re looking to impress your little lil bass bae, this show’s a super sweet bet. Get tickets HERE.
