I know I’ve been a stranger lately. The truth is, between my yoga training, a trip to Croatia and 9,000 weddings, I’ve barely had a chance to chill, let alone hit the dance floor. Well now that the 200-hour certificate is in hand, my bags are unpacked and the last fitting has been completed, I’m not trying to miss any more neighborhood hangs. You’re coming off a four-day week, so I’m sure you’ve got some extra energy stored up too (unless you’re still recovering from Electric Zoo, that is). Well happy hump day fools! It’s time to start making those weekend plans. Here, I can help . . .
Destructo @ Schimanski NYC (Thursday, September 7) – It’s been an exciting week for Gary Richards. Following the announcement that he will be taking over as the new President of festival entertainment brand LiveStyle North America, Destructo is heading to NYC to do what he does best: throw a kick ass party! Join the G-house pioneer when he brings his one-of-a-kind energy to Schimanski’s main room this Thursday night. Get tickets HERE.
A-Trak’s Goldie Awards @ Brooklyn Steel (Thursday, September 7) – Fool’s Gold founder and internationally renowned turn-tablist, A-Trak, will be bringing his first ever “Goldie Awards” to Brooklyn Steel this Thursday. Dave East hosts The 1st Annual DJ and Beat Battle with help from a panel of guest judges including Diplo, Mija, Destructo, Just Blaze as they determine who is best at throwing down. This unique experience is one for music fans and those who get fired up when the competition gets stiff. Get tickets HERE.
Ganja White Night @ Output (Thursday, September 7) – Good Looks Collective is bringing an unusual lineup of bass and trap artists to Output tomorrow night, with electronic music band Ganja White Night leading the pack. It’s a rare occasion to hear Output’s Funktion One sound system pounding with this kind of power, so wear your sturdiest show boots and plan for a late night stomp sesh because Dirt Monkey, Laetus and iX are providing support. Get tickets HERE.
Little Disco w/ Juan Maclean X Ashburn X KLM @ Black Flamingo (Friday, September 8) – Brooklyn’s only plant-based taqueria and discoteque continues to deliver big on bites and beats. This Saturday, House of Yes resident Juan Maclean joins the Little Disco crew in Black Flamingo’s vinyl cave for an intimate night of throwbacks and nu grooves. These sounds pair best with one of the haunt’s succulent signature cocktails. We recommend the Pisco Sour (hibiscus infused pisco, lemon cordial and chickpea water, $14) to keep the summer spirit alive for one more glorious weekend. Free before midnight. Get more info HERE.
Lane 8 @ The Well (Saturday, September 9) – Leave your phone at home this Saturday, because San Francisco-based house producer Lane 8 is bringing his popular “This Never Happened” show back to The Well. Lane 8 wowed us at Greenpoint’s Warsaw last year when he managed to keep even the most eager social media fiends from documenting the night’s events. Prepare for this daytime summer gathering to go under the radar completely (and intentionally). Those of you who can’t imagine leaving the house without your mobile device will have options on-site for covering up your camera lens or going hands free. Get tickets HERE.
