Club Crush Special Edition: NYE’s Best Electronic Lineups

Holy shit, we made it! I honestly didn’t think we’d survive 2017, but love has prevailed. Things we learned in 2017: Nazis still exist, the government is a sham and Hollywood is full of pervs. That’s a lot of tough shit to swallow, but it’s always darkest before the dawn, as Florence Welch so eloquently put it in the 2011 hit Shake it Out.

It’s finally time to send this bitch off in style. Lucky for us, Brooklyn is teeming with top-notch shows to celebrate the end of the weirdest year yet.  I’m hopeful for 2018 . . .

Another thing 2017 taught us: Without community, we are nothing. The thing that attracted me most to the electronic scene back in 2012 was the overwhelming sense of belonging I found inside club walls. Fans were unifying for more than just music – this was a safe place to be weird. It felt more than just okay to be me – it felt great! That sentiment still rings true today, so I can’t think of a better way to stick it to this shit year than by rallying up a squad and showing the world that we’re unstopple. Let’s put genres aside and appreciate music for what it is – a universal language that knows no bounds.

Brooklyn is always a hot spot for NYE blow-outs, and this year is no different. Whether you’re seeking an intergalactic experience, an excuse to lose your pants or face time with techno titans, there’s plenty to celebrate as we welcome 2018!

1.) Eric Prydz and Cristoph @ Output (December 28th – 29th and January 1st) – Output is notorious for snagging EPIC NYE bookings. This year, they’re boasting the legend himself Eric Prydz who will be playing for not just one night, but three! He is joined by Newcastle-based DJ and producer, Cristoph, who appears on his Pryda Presents label. It’s rare to see Prydz outside of a festival or arena, so don’t miss this opportunity to get up close and person with one of electronic music’s finest. It’s no surprise that this trio of shows is sold out, so stand by to hear about releases at the door HERE.

2.) RPM Presents GET REAL (Claude VonStroke & Green Velvet) @ Brooklyn Hangar (Friday, December 29th) – In what has become an annual tradition, Dirtybird teamsters CVS and Green Velvet are back to hit the warehouse district with some next level tech-house. RPM Presents and Big Week NYC have partnered up to bring this 18+ event to Brooklyn. Featuring support from house duo Solardo, this Hangar-based rager will make your NYE weekend shake and pop. Get that booty percolatin‘, because no one turns it out better than GET REAL. Get tickets HERE.

3.) Risky Business Presents “Check Your Pants at the Door” @ Bogart Brooklyn (Saturday, December 30th) – Risky Business is taking the phrase “Bottomless Brunch” to a whole new level. You’ll have the opportunity to check your pants at the front door and dance the day away over a full menu of delicious eats, ever-flowing mimosas and world-class techno from artists like Johnny Trika (SCI+TEC), Chilly Mox, Desna and our good friend, Alex Raouf. Drop trow and get tickets HERE.

4.) Flosstradamus Brooklyn Steel (Saturday, December 30th) – This time last year it was hard to predict the future of Flosstradamus. When Josh announced he would be splitting from the duo to pursue solo projects back in December of 2016, we were convinced the trap daddies had made a hard exit. However, Curt has proven that he can stand on his own. Hot off the release of a brand new collaboration with internet taste maker and bounce sweetheart, Dillon Francis, Flosstradamus returns to Brooklyn Steel in support of his “In Hi-Def” tour. Phantoms provides support. Ah snap, NYE just got HDY. Get tickets HERE.

5.) MK @ Schimanski (Saturday, December 30th) – House all-star Marc Kinchen (aka MK) has had a hell of year. When he wasn’t making appearances at clubs and festivals worldwide, he was hard at work in the studio. He’s now reaping the fruits of his labor as his new hit single, 17, has reached top 10 on the UK charts. The former Brooklynite has a triumphant homecoming in store over NYE weekend when he shares his new grooves in Schimanski’s main room. Dirtybird records rising star Will Clarke provides support. Can this night get any more sexy? Get tickets HERE.

6.) Teksupport presents TESTPILOT @ Depot 52 (Saturday, December 30th) – A rainy takeoff at Movement Detroit brought a debut performance from TESTPILOT, the techno alter alias of electro visionary, Joel Zimmerman (aka deadmau5). Now New York audiences have the rare opportunity to see one of their favorite DJs unmasked, and in a whole new light. Prepare for flight as TESTPILOT leads you through a thumping night of hard-hitting techno, with support from Tensnake and Dennis Ferrer. Expect turbulence, Sunset Park. Get tickets HERE.

7.) BangOn!NYC presents “Time + Space” @ 485 Johnson Ave (Sunday, December 31st) – Brooklyn-based party starters BangOn!NYC have the makings of a truly out of this world NYE party. Explore infinity rooms, human bowling, body painting stations, multiple stages, a silent disco, sexy aliens, aerial performances and much more when we blast off to another dimension at their annual Time + Space party. For the third year running, this stellar soiree sets up shop in the multi-level warehouse at 485 Johnson. Masked marauder Claptone headlines the year end blast-off with a little help from Persian trap producer, Asadi, deep-house DJ Tjani, BangOn!NYC’s always outstanding residents The Golden Pony and Dirty Looks, plus many more. We’re giving away a pair of VIP tickets, but if you want to play it safe, equip your squad for launch HERE.

8.) Hot Chip and Simian Mobile Disco (DJ Sets) @ Elsewhere (Sunday, December 31st) – A first visit to Elsewhere was a strong reminder that Brooklyn’s venues are just the best. This warehouse turned club features so much more than two dance floors. This beautifully designed venue is also home to a cafe, art gallery, outdoor space and more. Both Simian Mobile Disco and electro-pop collective Hot Chip has the indie sensibilities and dance hits to attract one of NYE’s most varied crowds. Tip for my non-drinkers: don’t forget to try the White Label Yerba Mate! Get tickets HERE.

9.) NYE Love Bomb feat. Soul Clap, No Regular Play @ Good Room (Sunday, December 31st) – For the second year in a row Crew Love‘s all-stars lend a funky soundtrack to Greenpoint’s foggiest dance floor. Expect good vibes at Good Room when our favorite Brooklyn house duos, Soul Clap and No Regular Play hit the decks. Hold your baby close and pucker up for some super passionate New Year’s smooches at this intimate NYE bash. Get tickets HERE.

10.) CityFox 2018: New Year’s Marathon Fest @ Avant Gardner (Sunday December 31st – January 1st) – The Brooklyn Mirage’s new indoor venue, Avant Gardner, will be the setting of CityFox’s sure to be legendary 26.2 hour NYE marathon bash. Featuring performances from some of house and techno’s biggest names (Dixon, The Martinez Bros., Lee Burridge, Thugfucker and Honey Dijon to name a few), this is more than just a party, it’s a test of endurance. The festivities kick off at 10 PM on December 31st and don’t stop until 12:12 AM on January 2nd. Buckle up, they don’t call it “the CityFox Experience” for nothing. Get tickets HERE.
