Cheney attends holocaust memorial, then builds a snowman and plays capture the flag on sleds

From Atrios
“Cheney stood out in a sea of black-coated world leaders because he was wearing an olive drab parka with a fur-trimmed hood. It is embroidered with his name. It reminded one of the way in which children’s clothes are inscribed with their names before they are sent away to camp. And indeed, the vice president looked like an awkward boy amid the well-dressed adults.

Like other attendees, the vice president was wearing a hat. But it was not a fedora or a Stetson or a fur hat or any kind of hat that one might wear to a memorial service as the representative of one’s country. Instead, it was a knit ski cap, embroidered with the words “Staff 2001.” It was the kind of hat a conventioneer might find in a goodie bag.
It is also worth mentioning that Cheney was wearing hiking boots — thick, brown, lace-up ones. Did he think he was going to have to hike the 44 miles from Krakow — where he had made remarks earlier in the day — to Auschwitz?”
by the way — where the hell was the entire Bush administration during the recent genocide memorial in Rwanda? Oh yeah, almost forgot, the Rwandans aren’t white.

  1. dude, cheney in hipster garb! throw a franz ferdinand tee in there, and watch him down cans of pabst at the merc.

  2. Joshua Goldstein says:

So Cheney wore an olive coat. So what? You have the opportunity to take another stab at the fallible Bush Administration—we get it, but this time the insult is fashion-based (typical inane Williamsburg behavior, you pretentious dolt). But an A for originality; few have the courage to poke fun at presidential attire.
However, regarding the [Rwanda] genocide remark… Wow. Did you know there’s another genocide, or Holocaust, occurring in Israel that’s causing the rest of the world to take up arms? Well, Palestinians were misplaced from their own sovereign state at the end of the Holocaust so that Jews could enjoy freedom‚Äîat the Palestinian‚Äôs loss thereof. Ironically, millions of Palestinians are currently being exterminated for their land much like the Native American was for theirs. If you want to point out a pertinent atrocity, why don’t you cover the existing Holocaust of the Palestinian?
Good luck having that published in NYC. And, just for fun, you should visit Israel sometime and make fun of Sharon in public. Just make sure to tell your loved ones you love them first—you should be so luck to have the freedom to make fun of your leader. The terms freedom and Palestinian are mutually exclusive, by the way.
In your story of The US Supported Extermination of the Palestinian, you should link the irony of the historic ‚ÄúHolocaust‚Äù which we milk for all it‚Äôs worth to the current death toll of the Palestinian and ask your readers to discern which Holocaust was worse. Then condemn them for being American and for not intervening in time. But only refer to the US as ‚ÄúWhitey‚Äù or ‚ÄúThe Man.‚Äù Whatever you do, or don‚Äôt do, just pray that we won’t have to wait until Palestinians are “extinct” before we realize what we allowed to happen was wrong. It’s possible that is why the world hates us so much right now. Not because Cheney is wearing an olive coat or because we neglected to attend non-white nations genocide memorials in Africa.
Oh, and my white brother was stationed in Rwanda for two years to support the folks in Rwanda. So shut the fuck up. The US has been involved in Rwanda for a long time, but off the radar, much like our involvement in Israel…

  3. Pleas explain me this: I live in Cracov and I have been watching all this Auschwitz memorial thing very closely in the media and I haven’t seen this photo. Come on, he is kinda representing the wu-tang clan in there. The point is that in Poland, every student has at to go for at least two schooltrips to Auschwitz and they wouldn’t have let anyone inside the camp if he would be dressed like a Dick.
