Greenpoint’s The Palace reopened last weekend. You may recall that the popular McGolrick Park bar (formerly called Palace Cafe) closed back in 2016. Locals Nick Padilla, Mary Schultz and Rita Puskas have restored the iconic tavern and its now open for business at 206 Nassau Ave. in Greenpoint: The bar at 206 Nassau Ave. may have a new […]
To experience the holidays in New York is to experience something truly magical. The stresses of big city life start to fade and make way for sweeter things – ice skating with friends, hot cocoa in the park, holiday markets and, albeit brief, a break from the workplace hustle. Hopefully you’re feeling refreshed while reading […]
We’ve pretty much always had a “top album” list here at Freedubya, but we’ve essentially been doing a more detailed version of it for the past five. Five years. That’s a milestone! Something to reflect on, I suppose. It feels like this list gets weirder and weirder every year, as Williamsburg gets… well, more and more “normal,” via J Crews, Apple Stores and Chipotles. I’m not sure what that says about us? Probably that we’re increasingly contrarian? I’d like to think it’s that we’re more authentic. Such is the time-tested conundrum of the North Brooklyn resident. I guess you, the reader, will be the judge of that. Anyway – peep these albums. We liked ’em a whole lot.
It’s that time of year again when we all get stressed out about what to buy our loved ones. Thankfully, there are several markets and pop-ups coming your way to help make the season a little bit brighter (and hopefully less stressful).
There are plenty of amazing pizza joints in North Brooklyn and two have made the Times’ list for best slice: Paulie Gees and Williamsburg Pizza. We also have a Joe’s Pizza on Bedford Ave (the original in Greenwich Village made their list as well) so technically there are three in the top ten. Local’s favorite Vinnie’s […]
People living at the Greenpoint Avenue stop in North Brooklyn now have another exciting culinary option. Citroën, a new French Bistro and bar at 931 Manhattan Avenue, had a soft opening last night for friends and family. The restaurant occupies the former home of No. 7 North and serves classic French fare and fancy cocktails in […]
Our process is similar to a CSA, but you choose exactly what you want to buy.
OK, in all likelihood this will be the last one of these this year. There will be a TOGTE year-end list of some form—and also FREEWilliamsburg’s top albums which I’ll contribute blurbs to—but this is probably it for semi-poetic waxing on new releases and weekly ticket link dumping until the first week of January or […]
Now that the turkey coma has finally subsided, it’s time to work off those leftovers! Since we’re all so busy with the holidays and such, I’m going to just cut to the chase and include a collection of December shows you won’t want to miss. This is my way of helping you plan ahead, because […]
And you thought L Train riders were having all the fun. The G train is about to start sucking even more next month with extended service disruptions planned for December and next March. The Greenpoint Av. G-train station will see a series of service disruptions and closures over the coming months as part of the […]
