At least Market Hotel and Elsewhere are now open, but this definitely sucks:
It’s bittersweet to share that 2018 will be Vans’ last year at our House of Vans Brooklyn location. When we opened doors of the Greenpoint warehouse seven years ago, we never imagined House of Vans would be so well received by the local community and ultimately be the start of House of Vans locations around the world. With permanent venues now in London and Chicago and pop-ups in cities all over the world, we have decided to close our Brooklyn space so that we can continue to evolve House of Vans experiences with broader communities across the U.S.
As we prepare to leave the physical venue in September 2018, we will continue to support New York’s rich music, art, and skate culture and the community who’s shared in making memories with us over the years. We plan to support music enrichment in schools, make sure there is access to skateboarding, and offer interactive art programs through events at The General by vans.
Through 2018 we will continue our marquee programs including SESSIONS, which offer skate nights during the winter and host emerging artists on stage, and Vans House Parties will return for its final year this summer. We plan to invite back some of our favorite acts and throw shows that we’ve always wanted to host there. We have a few surprises in store too. We’d like to invite everyone in the Brooklyn community to help us give this space a proper send off by celebrating the past seven years and kicking off what’s next for House of Vans.
